The Wheaton HS Community Art Show!
Ms. Wenger and I could not be more proud of all of Shriver ES's artists, and the artists whose work was chosen for the community art show. It was so exciting to meet families and talk about art tonight! Congratulations, young artists!

2nd grade mobiles
The kids are learning about mobile sculptures and the art of Alexander Calder. They made connections between mobile phones, automobiles, and mobile sculptures, and figured out that art mobiles can MOVE! They're starting by making some paper shapes that are attached to wire.

Kindergarten curls!
The kids are learning how to transform 2d (two-dimensional) paper shapes into 3d (three-dimensional) paper forms! They're starting by curling the paper.

More graffiti!
We're continuing to analyze graffiti as an art form by looking at current newspaper articles about celebrity graffiti (like Justin Beiber in Columbia) and public canvases (like 5Pointz, Brooklyn). Our kids have some amazing, insightful thoughts...
2nd grade Landscapes
They are working hard to add realistic details, and remembering that objects far away are smaller than objects that are close.
