More graffiti!
We're continuing to analyze graffiti as an art form by looking at current newspaper articles about celebrity graffiti (like Justin Beiber in Columbia) and public canvases (like 5Pointz, Brooklyn). Our kids have some amazing, insightful thoughts...

3D shapes
The 1st graders are learning that they can transform flat (2D) shapes into 3D shapes by rolling paper. They are making sculptures with cylinders!

Clay portrait vessels!
5th graders are working with clay to construct vessels with portrait facial features. They're using the slab, pinch, and coil methods of clay construction.

Kindergarten Dots!
The K students are learning that artwork can be created with a variety of media. They are making dots, inspired by "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds, using markers, painted water, oil pastels, colored pencils, and printed ink.

Monochromatic Color Scales
The 4th graders are learning about how to create monochromatic artwork by first making a color scale.
Collage Landscapes
The 2nd graders are learning the basics of a landscape, and how to create a landscape work of art with simple techniques. They have started collage landscapes by blocking the bottom half, below the horizon line, for the earth, and the top half for the sky.
